How we do User Research
Design & Product Team · Last updated June 2026
Overview
This document describes how the Meridian product team conducts user research — from identifying questions worth asking to making sure findings actually change what we build. It's meant as a living reference for anyone joining the team or picking up a research workstream for the first time.
When We Do Research
We run research at three points in the product cycle:
- Discovery — before a problem is defined, to understand what's actually going on for users
- Concept validation — once we have a rough direction, to pressure-test assumptions before investing in design
- Usability testing — once designs are interactive, to find friction before shipping
Everyone works like your best people.
Give your whole team access to the same skills and agents, so every member works from the same playbook, not their own version of it.
Pass it on. Keep everything with it.
When work moves from one person to another, context comes with it.

Onboarding a new teammate
When someone joins, Highlight catches them up on recent decisions, ongoing projects, and key context.
Highlight connects to your work context, your calendar, documents, and conversations, and surfaces things based on what's relevant to what you're working on right now, not just what's newest.
Your team shouldn't need a coordinator.
Highlight is the layer that keeps work moving so your team stays aligned without anyone playing catchup.
